PEDICURE INFO AND SANITATION
I am a very clean nail tech, I sanitize and disinfect everything. I use pedicure liners for extra protection, a new nail file for everyone. FOR YOUR INFORMATION - Pedicure chair tubs with jets need to be ran for 10 minutes with EPA REGISTERED HOSPITAL GRADE disinfectant solution after every customer, if there are no jets it needs to sit there for 10 minutes after every customer and at night pedicure tubs with jets need to be ran for 10 minutes before going home and one time a week it needs to sit overnight.
It is recommended not to shave for 24 hours to 2 days before a pedicure. Shaving creates microscopic cuts and makes it easier for bacteria to enter your body. Do not have a pedicure if you have any signs of a fungus or injury. As nail techs we are not allowed to work on anyone with an open sore or a communicable disease and that includes nail fungus. I will not work on feet that have nail fungus
SANITATION IS VERY IMPORTANT // CUTICLE OIL//CREAMS
I use a bottle dropper for my nail oil, it is against state board regulations to use a oil brush on the cuticles and then use on next person, not sanitary. I also do not put my hands in any of my creams, scrubs or mask. I use a spatula to remove product before I touch your skin with it. It is not sanitary to put my hand in any product and touch your feet or skin and then put my hand in the product again and then do it with the next customer. Product is contaminated after that. I keep all of my products clean and free from cross contamination.
QUOTED FROM NAIL TECHNOLOGY TEXTBOOK
All nail enhancements and adhesives are based on a family of chemical ingredients called the acrylics. Yes, all of them are acrylics. There are three main types of acrylics used to make all nail enhancements and glues. They are:
Methacrylates
Acrylates
Cyanoacrylics
Methacrylates are used to make all monomer and polymer powder systems and at least 1 type of UV hard gel. The chemistry behind nail enhancements products and adhesives is very similar. Nail enhancements based on UV and LED curing are not traditionally thought of as being methacrylates; however, they are very similar. UV gel enhancements rely on ingredients from monomer and polymer chemical family.
Althought most UV and LED gels are made from acrylates, new UV gel technologies have been developed recently that use methacrylates. UV and LED gels can also contain monomers, but they rely mostly on a related form called an Oligomer.
Monomer = liquid
Polymer = powder
Oligomers = in between, thick gel like and sticky
Acrylics and Hard Gel are both chemicals and prep is the same.
CND – CREATIVE NAIL DESIGN PRODUCTS
I use CND acrylic products
I have attended many CND education classes.
I use Akzentz hard gel products
I use a clean emery board on everyone
I use hard and soft gel
SHELLAC AND GEL NAIL POLISH ( UV/LED POLISH)
Shellac is a brand name for gel polish hybrid manufactured by CND Creative Nail Design
Gel Polish ( UV/LED Polish) is made by many different manufactures with different names but they are all gel polish. Other manufactures are OPI, Gelish, Essie, LaChat, DND, IBD, CND and more. Some are all gel and some are hybrids
